Looking down from the cliff on Hokianga Harbour, you can see to the bottom of the water where unique land formations camouflage themselves in the azure colored waters off the North Island of New Zealand. Across the harbour, the small town of Omapere sits peacefully along the coastline surrounded by the green hillsides.
Omapere is a very popular location for tourists as the natural harbour and the tranquility that surrounds this part of the North Island of New Zealand is priceless. From the town, you can walk along the beach until you reach the entrance to Hokianga Harbour which can be fascinating at high tide when water shoots straight up from a blowhole.

Omapere, New Zealand is a getaway that takes you away from all the hustle and bustle of the larger towns and cities but still within a hours driving distance to any of the major tourist attractions. The lists of things to do in and around Omapere and the Hokianga Harbour is endless but there is no need to race around, the pace is quite a bit slower. You can relax on the beach, jog along the coastline, golf, partake in fishing, snorkelling, dolphin and whale watching tours or simply wander around the historic buildings in town.
