Photo: Orca Killer Whale Sunset Johnstone Strait

A large male orca whale, aka killer whale, traveling through Johnstone Strait close to sunset, British Columbia, Canada.

The most beautiful time to watch an orca whale, aka killer whale, is when the sun slowly sets. This large male killer whale is traveling in Johnstone Strait just outside of Telegraph Cove, the spout is nicely lit up by soft backlighting provided by the setting sun.
