One of the typical forms of behaviour of an orca whale is splashing the water with its tail - also known as tail slapping.
It is sometimes possible to see an orca whale tail slapping, spyhopping, breaching or any of their typical behaviours during a whale watching tour off Northern Vancouver. The tail splashing can sometimes make quite a loud noise.
