The Penon de la Alcala bell towerstands out as a sign post that can be seen from the valley. Although the way to the village of Guadalest in the Province of Alicante, Spain, is through a 15 feet tunnel, the journey is well worth it.
The white-washed bell tower is situated beside the Guadalast Castle, which was damaged in 1848 when kegs of gunpowder exploded. There are many museums in the village, some are even in small caves which gives them an interesting ambience.White washed church belfry beside the Castell de Guadalest, Castle of Guadalest, Guadalest, Costa Blanca, Province of Alicante, Comunidad Valenciana, Spain, Europe.
