As winter nears and the coastline of the Hudson Bay near Churchill, Manitoba becomes colder, this sign comes into effect as at any given time a Polar Bear may be lurking around the area. The brightness of the sign and the large letters are necessary so that people can see the sign from a distance.
The sign is very serious and walking in this area could be very dangerous, especially if a Polar Bear feels threatened in any way. Polar Bears spend their time along the coastline during the winter months catching ringed seals as they have starved themselves during the spring and summer and they need to fatten up before the warmer weather and the ice begins to melt.
Please obey the signs if traveling around the Hudson Bay in Churchill, Manitoba when the Polar Bears are roaming the landscape.
