On these tours, you must keep your eyes open in every direction especially early on in the season as the Polar Bears are just coming to life and can be spotted anywhere across the tundra.
The best time to embark on a Polar Bear watch in Churchill, Manitoba is usually the months of October and November. Around the end of September, the Polar Bears begin to migrate towards the Hudson Bay coastline of Churchill and as you near the end of November more Polar Bears are seen. Weather is the key role to the amount of Polar Bear sightings you may see on any given day and if the climate stays too warm, the Polar Bears will rest for awhile longer.

... The Polar Bear wanders around aimlessly waiting for the Hudson Bay in Churchill, Manitoba to freeze over so that their main food supply of ringed seals can be caught.
The Polar Bear does not really care who or what he is crossing in front of, as he knows that there is nothing around the area that he is too afraid of. He will continue on his way but passengers will get a good look as he is crossing the road, or who knows the Polar Bear may stop and decide to check out the passengers. Anything can happen at any given time with wild animals and that is why nobody is allowed to venture off the bus onto the tundra while on the tours.
