Just waking up from a long sleep, this Polar Bear starts his journey across the tundra as he waits for Hudson Bay in Churchill, Manitoba to freeze over so he can begin his winter feeding session.
Traveling down the road, it is amazing to see a Polar Bear slowly making his way down the road, checking things out along his journey and letting visitors to the area capture some amazing pictures. Even though this Polar Bear looks fairly thin and tired, once he gets some good meals in him that he is longing for, his massive build will thicken up considerably.
Across the landscape of the Churchill Wildlife Management Area you will find a large open area of ponds, marshes, fens and bogs that will freeze over and make way for the Polar Bear population. ... continue below the picture...

The Polar Bear is the main concern for a lot of the wildlife that resides around Churchill, Manitoba as they are not frightened off by many animals. Due to their size and the feeding frenzy their awaiting to begin, it is best to stay a safe distance away if you spot a Polar Bear on your journey to the Churchill Wildlife Management Area.
