Over the years, the buildings were crumbling and they were not repairable, so larger ones were erected in their place, some being restored and painted as late as the mid 1950's.Golden Lane is not part in the quoted price to tour around Prague Castle, a special fee is charged to enter into Golden Lane and see this historic area, but the fee is well worth it.
