The Pyrenees mountains border both France and Spain. They make a magnificent natural division between these two countries and also completely envelopes the Principality of Andorra, an interesting little (450 square kilometers) country that is best known for tax-free shopping and great skiing.The Sierra de Aisa near the village of Jasa in Huesca, Aragon in Spain, are typical mountains of the Pyrenees. The Pyrenees Mountains are about 435 kilometers in length and span 50 kilometers at the widest areas.There are two large National Parks in the Pyrenees, the Parc National des Pyrenees which is on the French side and Parque Nacional de Ordesa y Monte Perdido which was Spain's first reserve founded in 1918. ... There are many villages, towns and castles to visit. There are rivers to fish or canoe down. There are mountains to climb, ski and snow-board. Outstanding bird-watching spots, wild flowers, hiking and ancient architecture and churches to admire.If visiting in July, one could be caught up in the excitement of the Tour de France, when the racers climb through the Pyrenees for nearly 200 kilometers.
