A slice of paradise tucked into the northwestern corner of Catalonia, Spain in the Pyrenees Mountain range - the Aran Valley is a 600 square kilometre (230 square mile) haven of waterfalls, forests, and flower-filled meadows.
The north facing aspect of the Aran Valley means that its climate is similar to that of the Atlantic coast and the flora thrives here due to the perfect conditions such as damp breezes and shady mountain slopes.
There are many stunning tourist destinations in the Pyrenees Mountain ranges of Catalonia but the Aran Valley or Vall d'Aran as it's known in Spanish, is a hidden gem where few tourists tend to visit.
