The Ring-tailed Lemur at the Auckland Zoo in New Zealand seems to be wary of something or someone as he explores his habitat. The Ring tailed Lemur and his family at the Auckland Zoo are very closely knit where you have a mother, father and a family of six children. The father (Don) and the mother (Sheba) have been in this habitat at the Auckland Zoo since 1997 and have created a beautiful family.
In the wild, ring tailed lemurs are only found on Madagascar, Africa where the rainforests are slowly being destroyed. The ring tailed lemur is extremely vulnerable in the wild and some of the other species of the lemur are becoming endangered.
The ring tailed lemur has some of the same features as that of the raccoon especially around the face and tail. The long striped tails are used for balance to carry their special smell and to make sure nobody loses one another as they spend most of their time along the ground. ... continue below the picture...
