Standing on the lush green cliffs overlooking the village of Riomaggiore, Italy you can see how some of the buildings cling to the edges of the rocks. From the front windows of these houses or tower houses, the view is stunning even on a hazy day such as this.
Just above the water's edge, there is a path that you can wander along as you explore the incredible coastline of the Cinque Terre in Italy. A small beach with a wharf sits along the baseline of the cliffs for people wanting to enjoy the fresh sea air.
Riomaggiore is the first village of the Cinque Terre that you come across from La Spezia and has a total population of about 1800 permanent residents. Colorful buildings date back to the thirteenth century and the village emits a unique charm that is very easy to get accustomed to.

... A couple of roads in the midst of the village is where most tourists and locals hang around but if you are looking for excitement at night, head to the Bar Centrale.
There are five Cinque Terre villages with Riomaggiore being the one that is located at the most southern point. To get between each village along the Cinque Terre in Liguria, Italy, walk the trail which winds its way along the coast just above the sea line. The scenery is spectacular and the vegetation that flourishes along the Cinque Terre coastline is created from many different species.
