Venice, is known the world over as one of the cities of romance!
Whether it's the sight of gondolas gently plying the waters of the Grand Canal taking visitors on sights of exquisite architecture such as that of the Church of San Giorgio Maggiore which triggers that sentiment, or standing in the Piazza San Marco and soaking up the ambiance of its beautiful surroundings, there's no doubt that Venice is an intriguing travel destination.
The gondola however, is probably one of the most romantic and iconic images of Venice, plus it is also a great way to explore this water-bound city. As well as the sights of the busy Grand Canal such as the exquisite architecture which fringes either side, there are many very small side canals which can only be accessed by small boats and larger power boats simply won't fit. ... continue below the picture...
... From here visitors get to see bridges, and architecture on a slightly smaller scale but no less grand.
More beautiful architecture and bridges can be seen in these small side canals which are less congested than the Grand Canal.
