As you come into the small town of Russell from the passenger ferry that crosses between Russell and Paihia, New Zealand, one can see how unique this place is. Situated in the Bay of Islands, Russell is known as a romantic getaway where charm and history blend in with the atmosphere that surrounds it.
Once you dock at the pier and disembark the ferry, explore the quaint shops, museums that take you back to the first European settlers in New Zealand and the beautiful architecture of the church. Supermarkets, gift and souvenir shops, antique stores, hotels, hardware and liquor stores are just a few of the places to visit in the town of Russell, New Zealand.

The population of Russell is about 1,100 which has risen by about three hundred people since 2001. A great deal of the homes in Russell, New Zealand are either used as places for vacation get aways or for tourism purposes which makes this town very extraordinary to visit.
