Passengers on a sailboat enjoy watching a pod of Orcas pass by off Northern Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada.

A sailboat on a whale watching trip sits in Johnstone Strait as two orcas swim slowly past. This is a common sight for any marine vessel around Northern Vancouver Island in British Columbia.

The orcas pass so close to this sailboat that the
whale watchers get an awesome look at orcas in the wild. These orcas sometimes get so close to boats that the spray from their blowhole can give you a partial shower.

Looking at these two orcas, you can see the difference in the size of their dorsal fins. Male and female orcas can be distinguished from each other by their dorsal fins. The fin of a male orca grows to be extremely larger than a females.

If you are travelling near Port McNeill on the Northern end of Vancouver Island in British Columbia, be sure to book a whale watching trip on a sailboat to witness these orcas for yourself.
