A beautiful summer scene of soft sand and the constant waves of the Tasman Sea lapping at the shores of Kohaihai Beach on the West Coast of New Zealand's South Island. This beach, situated near the town of Karamea, is the start of the famous Heaphy Track.
The Kohaihai Bluffs and River mark the southern end of the famous Heaphy Track in Kahurangi National Park. This beautiful West Coast beach of soft sand and cool waves of the Tasman Sea is what greets hikers after four to six days of hiking through the national park from the north.
A Department of Conservation campground is situated at the road end with views of the beach and Tasman Sea as it laps at the West Coast shores of New Zealand's South Island.
Kohaihai Beach which is within the Kahurangi National Park is accessed by following the Karamea-Kohaihai Road for 8 kilometres to the north of the town of Karamea. I photographed this photo with the digital SLR camera model Canon EOS-1Ds Mark II, aperture of f/7.1, exposure time of 1/320 sec. on ISO 100, as always I used a original Canon Lens, the focus lenght for this picture was 24mm.
