Most residents of Santorini possess their own boats as fishing is the main livelihood in this village located in the Greek Islands. The Aegean Sea is filled with many different species of fish and local fisherman use a variety of nets as to which type of fish they are catching.
Greek fishing boats around Santorini are made of wood and are all painted bright colors with each one being unique. Each fisherman takes special pride in his boat keeping the paint looking as bold and fresh as can be.
The population in Santorini is somewhere close to the 12,000 range and if fishing is not your idea of a great occupation, try your hand in the wine or tourism business.
