The stores that are located in the shopping centre of the Cours Mont-Royal in the downtown area of Montreal, Quebec were non-existent back in 1922 as this building was home to a five star hotel. During this time period when it was a hotel, it had a total of 1,100 rooms that were all very posh and as you stepped out into the hallways and lobby the lighting was created by fascinating chandeliers. To get to the lower floors, you could stroll down the spiral staircases which made one feel like royalty.
When the hotel was closed, the building was renovated with some of the interior remaining the same as what the hotel displayed. The floors sparkle in the lighting that illuminates the shopping centre with two floors being a mixture of brand names stores, the lower floor housing a variety of restaurants and the top floor being luxurious homes to some very well to do people.
