Stunted by poor soil and weather conditions, these Shore Pine trees look like something out of Lord of the Rings. This forest is situated in the Pacific Rim National Park on the West Coast of Vancouver Island.

Distorted Shore Pine trees, Pinus contorta var. contorta, and Sphagnum moss, Sphagnum cymbifolium, growing in the bog along the Shorepine Bog Trail, Pacific Rim National Park, Long Beach Unit, Clayoquot Sound UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, West Coast, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.

I photographed this photo with the digital SLR camera model Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III, aperture of f/9.0, exposure time of 1/13 sec. on ISO 100, as always I used a original Canon Lens, the focus lenght for this picture was 19mm.
