The Westland National Park is a stunning area set in the South Island of New Zealand. This photo of Lake Matheson was taken with a view of Mount Cook and the Mount Cook National Park as the backdrop. The South Island has the the most scenic and diverse landscapes compared to the North Island. New Zealand is located in the South Pacific Region and although the South Island is a relatively small land mass, it has so much to offer from rugged coastlines, mountain ranges, and beautiful green rainforests. Be sure to include the South Island on any tour of New Zealand.
