Tourists who visit the city of Volterra in the Tuscany region of Italy, can buy postcards as well as take pictures, to remind themselves of their visit. Postcards are sold at many souvenir shops throughout the city, often displayed outside, like in the photograph here, so that it is easier for tourists to notice them, and therefore, buy them.
Volterra was a Neolithic settlement, making it an incredibly old place to visit. The Neolithic Age, or 'New' Stone Age, first began about 10,000 BC, making the foundations of the city really ancient. The city later became a Roman Municipality as well. Thousands of visitors flock to this area every year because of its extensive history and unique sites.
