Northern Vancouver Island is one of the best places in Canada to see orca whales in the wild during a whale watching excursion. Among the resident pods that inhabit these BC waters, transient orcas also frequently visit.
During a whale watching trip, a pod of transient orcas were observed catching a sea lion. After the chase and subsequent meal, a celebration of sorts followed with the whales spy hopping, breaching, swimming on their backs and tail lopping.
