Once this large ship has completely entered Lock 3 of the Welland Canals System at the St Catharines Museum in Ontario, Canada, the lock will be put into place. The water level can then be adjusted in order for the ship to move safely through Lock 3 enroute to the next lock destination.The Welland Canal runs for twenty-seven miles and there is approximately 40,000 tones of cargo crossing the Welland Canal on a yearly basis. The maximum height in which a ship can be is 766 feet and the length can be no more than 740 feet.Lock 3 at the St Catharines Museum in Ontario, Canada is the only place where you can watch a ship as it makes its way through this system.
