The State Opera House near the top of Wenceslas Square in Prague, Czech Republic, presents different operas nightly mainly by Italian composers. Only recently in 1992, did the opera house formally become the State Opera House after reorganization brought a split with the National Opera.The richly decorated State Opera House of Prague in the Czech Republic, was opened January 5th, 1888 as The German Theatre. Architects from Vienna designed the building in neo-rococo style, at the peak of the facade are the figures of Dionysos and Thalia.The theatre was sold to the State in 1938, however due to the hostilities throughout Europe very few concerts were staged. Today, favourite Italian and Czech operas are performed at the State Opera House of Prague in the Czech Republic. During the Christmas season the Prague State Opera hosts special events.The State Opera House, Statni Opera, which plays mostly Italian Operas in downtown Prague, Czech Republic, Europe.
