Stift Melk is a historic Benedictine abbey in Austria, Europe and is considered to be the world's most well known monastic sites. It is situated on a rock formation over the town of Melk and looks down upon the Danube river in Austria.The garden surrounding the Stift in the village of Melk is fairly large and is divided into several parts that requires maps to find your way around. The garden is full of exquisite plants, trees and flowers along a beautiful walkway with bridges, arches and a tea house. You can venture out on your own through the Stift garden or there are guided tours available.The village of Melk, Austria is a day trip from Vienna and the Stift is the main attraction that brings in many tourists each year.
