Street cafes are very popular in Place d'Armes in Old Quebec in Quebec City and people fill the tables to enjoy a bite to eat under sunny skies. Thousands of people have sat at these tables at the street cafes and watched the entertainment that is performed at the Place d'Armes.The Place d'Armes sits atop a cliff that is bordered by a variety of government buildings such as the Old Courthouse built in 1887. At one time, this area where the Place d'Armes in Quebec City is located, was used as a site for military drills and parades. Early in the 1900's, the park was re-opened for the public to enjoy ands soon street cafes and performers became the highlight of the Place d'Armes.Around the park, there are monuments with each one having a historic story relating to it and a fountain in the centre of the square.
