As sunset closes in around the North Island of New Zealand, shades of bright yellow line the sky over the ridges of Mt Taranaki slowly fading to an almost white color higher above. The sun is no longer visible and the remaining rays silhouette Mt Taranaki and lights from the smaller towns are spotted across the landscape.With barely a cloud floating aimlessly across the New Zealand sky at sunset, another beautiful day looks promising when the morning arrives. The water appears as a sheet of glass and the scenery and tranquility that surrounds the Northern Taranaki Bight on the North Island is amazing.Mt Taranaki, also known as Mt Egmont is a very dominate feature of the landscape around the North Island of New Zealand as it is the second highest mountain in the area. The cone shape of the volcano is very defined at sunset with snow that still glistens off the peak.Mt Taranaki is a fabulous place to explore while visiting the North Island of New Zealand as you can take short hikes or journey into the wilderness for days at a time. ... continue below the picture...
