A world of outstanding beauty is found in the waters off Northern Vancouver Island in British Columbia and its hard to beat a picture like this. Not only do you get to enjoy a gorgeous sunset, but the waters off Northern Vancouver Island have quieted down for the day and the Orca seem to be the only remaining guests in the water.
One female and one male Orca decided to linger on the top of the water for a short while after surfacing only to find the day has turned into an enchanted display at sunset. Northing is more beautiful off Northern Vancouver Island than to be out on the water when the golden sky stretches across the horizon with wisps of illuminated clouds hovering above and watching Orca surfacing across the ocean.
This is a brilliant time of day to be whale watching as the stillness is exhilarating except for the sound of the blows from the Orca after surfacing. The water is calm, the sky is aglow, mountains adorn the backdrop and wildlife can appear from anywhere off Northern Vancouver Island. ... continue below the picture...
... The ideal place to release all the pressures of life and enjoy Orca passing by in the midst of a beautiful sunset.
Many whale watching trips leave from different locations around Northern Vancouver Island and during the summer months and into the fall, there can be a variety of Orca pods in these waters. On some days, you may be able to spend the entire trip with a few different pods, others may include a small family group and some days the Orca magically disappear and can not be found by anyone.
The success rate is very high during whale watching season but just like any species of wildlife, the Orca have alternate destinations and plans on a few chosen days.
