The snow covered peaks and mountains of the Swiss Alps in Switzerland, Europe are blanketed with snow in the high passes where the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn travels. The white landscape is what most people except when they travel to Switzerland as this is a region know for exceptional winter activities.
Traveling by train throughout the Swiss Alps is a much easier form of transportation where you can sit back and relax while enjoying the snow covered hills. You will travel over 291 bridges and venture through 91 tunnels if you start at one end of the train line to the other end which takes approximately eight hours.
Transportation has been made more comfortable aboard the train and recent renovations have made cars air conditioned and air-cushioned. Each little village you pass is encompassed by wintery conditions and the slopes for skiing are tremendous from December through until May.
