Travelling along the highway and entering the barren landscape of the Tablelands in Gros Morne National Park is like arriving in some alien place.
In stark contrast from the lush green landscape of the rest of Gros Morne National Park, the Tablelands are in part covered in brown rocks more reminiscent of a desert. This peridotite rock has high levels of iron which gives it the rusty brown colour.
