As the sunset alters the sky into a fascinating display of pink and yellow hues, the darker rows of clouds project glowing pink colors. There is nothing more beautiful than a sunset over the Tasman Sea in the North Taranaki Bight on the West Coast of the North Island of New Zealand.
Off in the distance across the surface of the Tasman Sea, the gray clouds prominently display the Maui Gas Platform. One of the gas field platforms is situated approximately twenty-one miles west of the North Island of New Zealand off the coastline of Taranaki with the other one being about ten miles further offshore.
One of the Maui Platforms produces gas and condensate while the other one extracts gas, condensate and oil. For about another eight years this process will continue until eventually the reserve will almost be used up.
If you were visiting Taranaki, New Zealand and looking at this platform from across the horizon, you might wonder what this fixture erected from the Tasman Sea might be. ... continue below the picture...
... Once your fixation focuses on the array of colors from the sunset in the evening sky, you will be amazed at how many different colours the early evening sky can become before the sun settles in for the night.
