This Cryptobiotic crust or biological soil crust is very important to the soil and ecosystems.These crusts help to keep the soil in place so that they can protect the ground deposits from any erosions. The crust absorbs water to keep the ground enriched which makes the ideal location for seeds to reproduce and safe havens for insects to live.Cryptobiotic crusts are extremely easy to destroy and once they have been crushed many years may pass before they grow back.
