The Tuscany village of Lucchio in the Province of Lucca, Italy blends into the side of the mountain and seeing the medieval castle and village houses it would be difficult to believe this is the 21st century.
When coming from the city of Lucca in Tuscany, Lucchio village is hidden from view. The narrow, winding road one has to travel to reach Lucchio makes it understandable why, in the 14th century the Lucca nobles made Lucchio the main fortification to guard the border.Today, the castle is in ruins, but the location of the 11th century structure obviously was in a dominant position to watch over the entire Lima valley between Pistola and the Garfagnana.
In the time of the Renaissance the castle was not needed to guard the borders, and was left to crumble, although some of the stones were used to either build or repair the houses of the village of Lucchio in Tuscany.Village of Lucchio,Tuscany ... continue below the picture...

I photographed this photo with the digital SLR camera model Canon EOS-1Ds Mark II, aperture of f/6.3, exposure time of 1/500 sec. on ISO 200, as always I used a original Canon Lens, the focus lenght for this picture was 190mm.
