Situated at the mouth of the Whakatane River, the town of Whakatane is the main urban centre for the eastern Bay of Plenty region on the North Island of New Zealand.
A diverse range of industries define the town of Whakatane which include tourism, dairy farming, forestry, manufacturing, fishing, and horticulture. The town services smaller centres in the Bay Plenty such as Kawerau, Opotiki, Whangaparaoa, just to name a few.
Whakatane is also considered the gateway to White Island, the most active volcano in New Zealand.

I photographed this photo with the digital SLR camera model Canon EOS-1Ds Mark II, aperture of f/8.0, exposure time of 1/160 sec. on ISO 100, as always I used a original Canon Lens, the focus lenght for this picture was 46mm.
