A white pelican is a large web-footed bird and is found mainly in the western part of the United States around lakes and marshes. This particular white pelican resides at the L'Oceanografic in Valencia, Spain a local tourist attraction highly recommended to see.
The white pelican has a gigantic throat pouch that it uses for scooping up fish as it casually swims through the water. The wingspan of a white pelican can be as wide as 3.1 meters which is why they are one of the most graceful fliers of the bird species. This specific type of pelican is becoming a bird of great decline and has nearly reached the point of being endangered.
The L'Oceanografic in Valencia, Spain has many different species of birds on display but the white pelican is a fascinating bird to watch.
