As the winter sun hovers above the mountain in the Wildgerlos Valley in Salzburger Land in Austria, the wilderness landscape and the flowing river sparkle in the direct sunlight. When looking up the river, the onset of the waterway is nowhere in sight as it winds its way through the wilderness of the Wildgerlos Valley.The landscape is still blanketed with its winter coat which is slowly beginning to melt along the banks of the river where it will drain. Remains of snow and ice on the surface of the river are still splotchy but the majority of the frozen ice has melted given the river freedom to gently flow downstream. Many hikers during the summer will follow this river up to the peaks of the mountains where they will locate where the river originates.Winter in the Wildgerlos Valley in Austria is something which a lot of people never see due to the amount of snow received in the area and the dangers of winter hiking throughout this wilderness. ... continue below the picture...
... At times during the winter season, not even the river can be seen as it has been frozen and blanketed with snow. Experienced hikers are the only ones which should be found in the Wildgerlos Valley in Austria during winter and these are the people who can take the pictures and enjoy the beauty, the risks are simply too high.In the backdrop, the mountain peaks have become barren and the wilderness of the Wildgerlos Valley in Austria will soon be frequented by the many species of wildlife found throughout this valley. As Spring moves into the Wildgerlos Valley, the number of tourists begins to increase around Salzburger Land, Austria as hiking the wilderness attracts an assortment of people.
