Orca Killer Whale Pictures
Most of my images of Killer Whales (Orcas, Orcinus orca) are photographed within the Traditional Territories of the Kwakwaka'wakw People along the northeast coast of Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada.
For over 40 years, I’ve captured the majestic presence of orcas—also known as killer whales—in the heart of First Nations territory along the pristine waters of Johnstone Strait and the Broughton Archipelago. This unique ecosystem, steeped in cultural heritage and natural beauty, is the perfect backdrop for observing and honouring these remarkable animals in their natural environment.
Ethics and respect are at the core of my work. Every photograph in this gallery is taken with the utmost care, prioritizing the orcas’ well-being and minimizing any disturbance to their natural behaviours and habitats. Ethical photography means respecting the space and rhythm of these incredible animals, allowing them to remain undisturbed in their home waters. I am committed to ensuring that these interactions honour the orcas and the Indigenous lands they thrive on.
Through my lens, I strive to share the profound experience of encountering these creatures and capturing their strength, grace, and intelligence. Each photo reflects a deep respect for the orcas and their environment, inviting you to explore and connect with the beauty of these animals, whose spirit and stories inspire every shot.
