Part of any trip to Alaska at some point will include interaction with the First Nations communities and native american people. The Chilkat and Tlingit nations are as much a part of the state as the glaciers. The ceremonial masks and their famous Chilkat blankets are must sees on any visit . Haines, Alaska is one of the many interior communites and well worth the drive into or is also accessible by cruiseship via the Lynn Canal, North America's longest canal.
