A female harp seal returns from the arctic waters of the Gulf of St Lawrence to the pups on the ice floes. Female seals give birth to one pup. She can identify her own pup by scent alone and will only allow her own young to suckle. Although the sun was shining this day it was extremely cold. These baby harp seals withstand brutal arctic conditions out on the pack ice.
