A bull stands in the late afternoon light in the Plaine de la Camargue in Provence, France. This is a Camargue Bull and can only be found in this region of France.
The Camargue region of France is located to the south of Arles, a city in the South of France, in the Bouches du Rhone region between the Mediterranean Sea and the River Rhone Delta. These cattle that are seen here are only found in this area of France, which is a mix of fields and marshland.
The Camargue Cattle are all black in colour and have large horns. This breed of cattle is known for their tough stamina and their ability to survive in somewhat tough conditions.
They are tended and looked after by French cowboys in the area, known as Gardians, but they are semi-wild as well; they don't need a lot of looking after. ... continue below the picture...
... When their time comes, these bulls are rounded up by these Gardians and are sold to bullfighting rings across Europe.
