In 1912, a large statue of a knight on horseback was erected near the Czech National Museum in downtown Prague which honors the patron saint of Bohemia, St. Wenceslas, who was born in 907 and later murdered in 935. The downtown square was named St. Wenceslas in 1848, but it was not until many years later that the St. Wenceslas statue adorned with four other saints, one on each corner, was placed here.Tourists to the downtown core of Prague in the Czech Republic, linger around the statue, some snapping pictures, others use it as a meeting place, while others admire the size and beauty of the statue.
