The Duomo in the city of Siena, Tuscany in Italy is one of the best Cathedrals of Gothic design in Italy. However, it would have been a larger and more magnificent structure had the dream of the Sienese been fulfilled. In 1348, the population of Siena was decreased by a substantial number because of the Black Death. Money then ran out, the city was in a state of upheaval and the Duomo was left in its unfinished splendor and broken dreams.
