The Karlstejn Castle in the Czech Republic was constructed in 1348 and is a very exceptional castle for its historical importance and the incredible architectural design. The construction of this castle took over seven years with some of the internal areas prolonged until 1365.The individual parts of the Karlstejn Castle in Czech Republic are all situated at various height levels which makes this castle an even greater prominent structure. The castle is dominated by a massive tower whose floor plan consists of sides of 25 and 17 meters.The King of Bohemia and the Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV built the Karlstejn Castle mainly as a safe place to keep reliquaries and the crown jewels. The most impressive part of the castle is the Chapel where the walls are adorned with over one hundred panel paintings of saints from the workshop of Master Theodorik.
