The Cave and Basin is actually one of nine hot springs considered part of Sulphur Mountain, named so because of the strong sulphur smell that surrounds the site. However, this is the only one that can fit large groups of people. As part of this exhibit, visitors can see a replica of the 1887 bathhouse built here as people believed that the sulphur contained natural healing properties and would be good for their general health. If you walk along the Discovery Boardwalk Trail you will also be able to see the Cave vent.
