A surreal twilight picture of the moon above the snowcapped Sierra Nevada and the scenery of the Alabama Hills Recreational Area with its interesting rock formations.
The light from the moon is diffused by the clouds hanging above the mountain range and bathes the rock formations of the Alabama Hills in an eerie light. The rough volcanic rock and smooth granite capture the dim but even light of twilight.
The Alabama Hills are basically the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountain range and the rock, although it appears different, is the same age. These interesting rock formations are part of the magical scenery of this recreational area which features in many classic movies, and television shows.
