This beautiful winter scenery is in the Peter Lougheed Provincial Park. In the distance of the Upper Kananskis Lake is the snow covered Kananaskis Range. The lake and the mountains are a wonderful snowy backdrop to the picnic table which sits along the shoreline of the lake.
The Upper Kananaskis Lake has scenic hiking paths and during the winter, cross-country skiing trails. This natural lake is used as a reservoir. Along with the Upper Kananaskis Lake, several natural and man made lakes are used for hydro electric power, water reserves and also flood control.
This provincial park was originally named the Kananaskis Provincial Park but was renamed as the Peter Lougheed Provincial Park, who served as premier of Alberta from 1971 to 1985.
The park covers an area of 304 sq km (117. ... continue below the picture...

Also the park has a variety of wildlife such as bear, elk, deer, wolves, and cougars. During the winter months the scenery is outstanding with snow covered mountain ranges, and lakes which feature the footprints of animals in the snow.
