Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area and Spring Mountains with first morning light at sunrise after a cold winter night with fresh snow on the mountain tops.

It was my first time that I had a chance to visit Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area and Spring Mountains near Las Vegas in Nevada, USA. Unfortunately I didn't have a lot of time to do longer hikes but I had a beautiful drive along the scenic drive through the park which goes along the Spring Mountains which were covered in fresh snow and I had enough time to do some little walks and some photography.

It was the start for a 2 weeks trip I had in the southwest US area and I was very excited starting with fresh snow in red rock country. The contrast between the red and white always fascinated me. If everything goes as planned then I should be finally able to show you more pictures from this trip over the next few weeks. The tour brought me mostly into deserts and the plan was to photograph spring flowers in the desert. Conditions were good before I left but that much I can already tell you - it was a constant up and down with the weather and temperatures. ... continue below the picture...
