One indicator that you have entered the Mojave Desert is the presence of Joshua Trees, as well as other indicator plants, elevation (between 3,000 and 6,000 feet), geology, and latitude (between 34 and 38N). This desert supports approximately 2,000 species of plants, 200 of which are endemic.
The Mojave Desert is situated between two other deserts, the Sonoran and Great Basin Desert and straddles four US States including California, Nevada, Arizona and Utah.
The desert plays host to four parks, namely: Death Valley National Park, Joshua Tree National Park, Lake Mead National Recreation Area, and Mojave National Preserve.
