The Centre Street Bridge spans the Bow River as it leads to the city of Calgary, with its high-rise buildings and the Calgary Tower in the background. Just before sunset, an early winter's light snowfall covered the city.
In 1988, Calgary was the first Canadian city to host the Olympic Winter Games. Calgary is known well for its winter sports and nearby mountain resorts, but the economy is centered on the petroleum industry. However, agriculture, tourism and high-tech industries are also a large part of Calgary's economic growth.

The Calgary Tower is a free standing observation tower that stands 191 meters high (627 feet). This is the tallest structure in Calgary and was built to celebrate Canada's centennial of 1967.
